    Post Pi 4 - a Few questions

    hey guys!

So just recently got myself the new pi4, seems to run abit hot tho. Thinking of adding a single 5v fan, can anyone gimme some feeback if that should be enough or if I should acquire some heatsink aswell for the cpu/ram?

Thanks guys look forward to the feedback.

Depends what you are going to do with it.

When it gets hot it throttles. If you stick a heatsink on there then that can soak heat for longer before the throttling begins so for a lot of uses that is all you need.

If you are going to use a small closed case, then a fan might be useful.

I don't push mine hard enough for any of that to really be necessary.

Definitely. The heatsink spreads heat to a larger area for the fan to cool. Use some thermal glue too. I'm using the fan on the PoE hat and I think under stress test the CPU went up to approx 78c without heatsink vs 68C with.

    Re: Pi 4 - a Few questions

I know it's been a few months since OP started this thread, but if anyone glaces in I'd say checkout the Argon One case, my Pi4 in one of those stays under 43C day to day, running moodeaudio and deluged.
