    Gaming Headset

    Hi all,

I currently have HyperX Cloud II, randomly the mic will stop working and i have to remove it from usb and plug it back in, I have even reinstalled windows 10.

So i'm looking for suggestion on headsets that connect via 3.5mm, my mobo is z390 Aorus Master.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, I have an MSI-edition Steelseries Siberia V2 headset.
Mic is clear, sound is great and zero latency monitoring is natively supported on my board. They're closed-back, but I live with other humans so they benefit from the lack of machine gun fire at 3am.

Costs about £60 brand new, I believe.

    Re: Gaming Headset

To play devil's advocate, have you considered getting separate headphones and a mic? I was in your situation and ended up going for a pair of Sennheiser 599s (69 quid on sennheiser outlet, though they have since gone out of stock).

The sound quality on open back headphones are incredible, especially for gaming as I can pinpoint footsteps and other sounds, as well as their direction perfectly now (dunno where you rank on the scale of care free gamer - nitpicking audio God). The comfort of the 599s are also the best I have come across, wearing them for hours they have no clamp, very soft ear cups and don't cause ear sweats.

If you want closed backs to avoid noise bleed, Audio Technica M50x or M40x, Beyerdynamic 770 pro (32 or 60 Ohm, as 250 would require an amplifier) and AKG k371 are some great picks.

As for mics, you can go for something like the Samson Go, which is small, stands on your desktop and performs way better than any built in mic on a headset. Personally, I cheaped out and ended up using my mobile as a mic. You can download WoMic on your phone and connect it to your PC using bluetooth, wifi or usb. This has worked flawlessly for me, saved money and the quality is actually good.

I don't know if links are allowed, so will simply point you in the direction of Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide on Head-fi. This is far and away the most in depth exposé on gaming audio equipment out there, definitely worth a read.
