Being down here on the coast and near the beach, summer music to me always means classic rock, surf music and maybe a bit of motown

The lovin' spoonful - "Summer in the city" (at the start of Die Hard 3 if anyone can't remember it)
Lots of Jimi Hendrix
Lots of Led Zeppelin
Reef - "Place your hands" or "Naked" well any Reef
Rootjoose - "Can't keep living this way" or "Mr Fixit" (they are local though so i'm not sure how far they spread)

Now there is a man with some serious taste in music and welcome at any of my BBQ's

Seeing as that I live in a cottage with large gardens and no-one around for miles, i tend to have a BBQ almost every other day in the hight of summer (which tend to get a bit silly and last into the following morning ), I have a large collection of 'BBQ favourites' which I might post when I get home. Probably have a few more when i get back from the Big Chill in August too

But appart from what Barakka said, for me there has got to be some Herbaliser, 2 Many DJ's mixs, Lemon Jelly, Scruff, Hexstatic, DJ Shadow, Bent, Morcheeba and maybe Kruder & Dorfmeister in there too. Oh, and I could not have a BBQ without a little Groove Armada too.

BTW, the J5 sugestion freaked me out a little. As soon as i saw the thread title that song popped into my head!
