    How can anyone?

Getting back on track (no pun intended)

Being down here on the coast and near the beach, summer music to me always means classic rock, surf music and maybe a bit of motown

The lovin' spoonful - "Summer in the city" (at the start of Die Hard 3 if anyone can't remember it)
    Lots of Jimi Hendrix
    Lots of Led Zeppelin
Reef - "Place your hands" or "Naked" well any Reef
Rootjoose - "Can't keep living this way" or "Mr Fixit" (they are local though so i'm not sure how far they spread)
Joe Cocker - "Little help from my friends"
Otis Redding - "Sitting by the dock of the bay"
War - "Why can't we be friends"
Some Jackson 5 ( definitely "I want you back" though)
Smokey Robinson - "Tracks of my tears"
The Commodores or Faith No More - "Easy" (both awesome versions)
Thin Lizzy - "Boys are back in town", and "Jailbreak"
Norma Jean - "Memphis will be laid to waste" (Ok, maybe i'm kidding there )
Queen - "Don't stop me now" + so many others
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Sweet Home Alabama"
Chuck Berry - "Johnny B. Goode" (although there are hundred of versions of it)
Dust Junkys - Done and Dusted the Album (just a personal fav album though)
    Sublime - "What I got"
Incubus - "Wish you were here" or "Echo"
Kiss - "God gave rock and roll to you", "Crazy crazy nights" or "Detroit rock city"
Mr Scruff - the "Keep it unreal" album is a personal fav for funky background music at gatherings, but definitely "Spandex Man"
    The Who - "My Generation"
    Smashing Pumpkins - "1979"
    The Blues Brothers soundtrack

I've probably forgot and managed to miss loads off my usual summer list though

I find that when its fairly hot and everyones chilled out, a bit of Bob Marley goes down well

Now there is a man with some serious taste in music and welcome at any of my BBQ's

Seeing as that I live in a cottage with large gardens and no-one around for miles, i tend to have a BBQ almost every other day in the hight of summer (which tend to get a bit silly and last into the following morning ), I have a large collection of 'BBQ favourites' which I might post when I get home. Probably have a few more when i get back from the Big Chill in August too

But appart from what Barakka said, for me there has got to be some Herbaliser, 2 Many DJ's mixs, Lemon Jelly, Scruff, Hexstatic, DJ Shadow, Bent, Morcheeba and maybe Kruder & Dorfmeister in there too. Oh, and I could not have a BBQ without a little Groove Armada too.

BTW, the J5 sugestion freaked me out a little. As soon as i saw the thread title that song popped into my head!
