    Optical Question??????

Hi new to the forum so sorry if this is in wrong place.

I have a shuttle sn41g2 connected to a sony davsa30 dvd/amp and its connected using twin phono 2 jack.

After a while being on the dvd starts making popping noises through the speakers. I switch off and on and its ok for a bit.

There is no spdif on the dvd but there is on my PC. Would getting a converter between the 2 and use optical sort things out.

    Cheers

What audio drivers are you running? Northbridge/case temps?

might be a grounding issue, run a wire from your Shuttle chassis to a suitable earth point [some amps have these on rear, or the screw on your 13amp mains socket bezel, if you are unsure what I mean please ignore my advise as i don't want to be responsible for you getting hurt ]

my Shuttle SB75G sometimes does this with the 3.5 > phono adaptor on my speakers, so I use the optical out on rear of my Shuttle if I hook up to my home cinema

Thanks for the replies so if I get an optical converter box and use the spdif out on my PC then into the converter then into the dvd this would sort my problem out. I am using northbridge nforce2 mcp audio.

    These are my settings

    case 44deg
    CPU 48deg
    core 0 1.63v
    core1 1.50v

    Thanks again for the reponses

Sounds similar to what your having problems with, worth a try tbh might save you a few quid.
