Ninja Scroll
Devil Man
Not really into anime, but I do like those two :)
Series
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Witch Hunter Robin
Cowboy Bebop
Outlaw Star
Noir (not watched it yet)
Blue Gender
Movies
Blood: The Last Vampire
Akira (still not watched)
Ghost in the Shell
Try http://carnage.fanfic.org/reviewsindex.html it has a good range of reviews of Anime.
Akira owns i reccomend it :)
If you're quick you might be able to catch Spirited Away in the cinema. Amazing film.
Metropolis
I'd recommend - Shadow Skill, Ninja Scroll, Akira, Fist of the North Star (film and series!), Princess Mononoke, and the Crying Freeman series :>
Depends what you like, really. There are all sorts of Anime out there. Stuff for Adults/boys/girls/children/freaks, dodgy jap comedy/sci fi/fantasy/horror/fighting/sports and the most vile tentacle sex hentai imaginable etc.
I'm currently watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes - the Anime that inspired the Homeworld computer game.
Here are two... erm 'relatively' legit download sites:
http://www.animesuki.com/
http://www.downloadanime.org/
You can check out series you have heard about by searching either on sites like AnimeInfo or buy doing a search in a forum such as Megatokyo to save yourself either a multi gigabyte download or $$$ on expensive R1 DVD imports.
Ghost in the shell :)
brilliant film
I find that GITS and Akira get a bit too hyped up now days. There are so many movies out there which are far better IMO, Spriggan is one of them. If you liked GITS you will like Spriggan.
Ninja Scroll
Ghost in the Shell
Wicked City
Guyver for the series
I thought I remembered posting something about anime on here before, but unlike some i was too lazy to do a search.
anmatrix explains matrix reloaded and the 1st matrix
Jin-roh is prolly one of the greatest anime films i have seen. Wolf's Rain is an awesome series as well as Hellsing but my pick has to be Berserk :)
Th GITS tv series is sweet as well. There is a tv series of the film X which is far superior to the film, worth checking out. Two other series i like are Steel Angel Kurumi, and Hand Maid May, both very funny.
You might also want to check out Mamoru Oshii's live action film Avalon
http://www.ninesisters.org/
Patlabor 1 and 2 are great films, not seen 3 yet though
I hope everyone has seen Spirited Away at the cinema? Muchos quality movie there. I even bought the R1 DVD from playusa and Princess Mononoke from HMV for cheap (on offer atm) cause its by the same director. Another damn fine movie there too.
i went out on fri and bought ninja scroll and x, and have a few bits on the way neon genesis evangelon and tenchi muyo hopefully \o/
Cheers

Eva rocks, I hope your not disappointed!
I reckon the best way to watch eva is in one massive viewing watching all the episodes and the films in one go!! Go on, give it a go, you may survive with your mind in tact :p
Naruto. That's currently my favourite (Though the really cool stuff starts at episode 17).
Hack Sign (aka .hack//SIGN) is difficult to understand when poorly translated (As in, subbed).
Hellsing is good (Makes Blade look like a cute little rabbit).
Ghost In a Shell: Stand Alone Complex is also interesting (This is the series, not the original movie).
Ghost in the Shell was the original movie
Stand alone complex is the name of the series. Now 52 epsiodes instead of 26, but we have to wait for the DVDs now bandai have decided to threaten fansubbers with law suits :(
In the past you saw peeps on anime forums asking for scripts. You dont see that now - I guess with the coming of Bittorrent and more and more fansub groups.
I wouldnt mind going back to that - downloading the raws and reading a printed script. Gives you an insentive to then buy the CD later if you thought it was good. The anime houses didnt go after them so bad it seems back then either - the file size (and therefore quality) was alot smaller a year or so back too.
Guess you cant blame them for being pissed when peeps are subbing at > VHS quality mpeg4's.
I still buy all the fansubs i keep though. Makes no diff to me, helps people get into it. There's a lot of anime i dont like and would rather sample first.
anything by Miyazaki
Metropolis
