Need some speakers for a laptop

    Hi all.

I dont really know anything about speakers to start with; but i am looking for something cheap (up to £30), and semi decent. The Laptop only has the green jack, does this only allow 2 speakers, or can i get 2 with a sub?

They are only for listening to music, and watching films on a laptop, no game playing etc.

I have no idea where the best place to get speakers just wondering if you guys can sort me out?

Sorry for the lack of info, i have no idea what i want.

    Thanks
    Will.

Thanks for the replies guys; after having a look around several computer shops i have got the choice down to 3, and was just wondering which ones you guys would buy. Also, i cant seem to find any proper (not just customer) reviews on the google.

    Creative Inspire (P380)

    Creative Inspire T-3000

    Trust (1600P)

The 2 creative ones have the same specs, except 9p difference (T-3000 is cheaper.) The Trust one seems to have a weak bass but is £7 cheaper.

Do you have any opinions? I think the Creative t-3000 ones seem like the ones to get.

    Thanks very much
    Will.

Would always go for a Creative set over a Trust (or similar company) set. You will notice the sound quality difference.

aye, the other thing is that with creative you're guarenteed something that sounds reasonable for the price - with other companies you might end up with a bit of a shocker.

If you're willing to spend a little more, for £35 you can get a system from novatech.co.uk with a fat subwoofer and five satellites! It's awesome.

I don't like it when power is only listed as PMPO wattage. RMS is a good honest figure. I've got some massive 400w speakers, and I'm surprised when people say "only 400w?".

to be honest, whattage is completely rubbish way of working out how powerful a system is, regaurdless of how its mesured (RMS or PMPO) - it only judges how much power a speaker can handle (while still making music, or not blowing up, respectively), but it doesnt say how much noise the speaker will generate in return. A well set up 20wpc stereo can be easily loud enough for 90% of rooms

Quite 5lab, different companys measure it in different ways and its a pretty useless figure.

For that price creative are probably your best bet.

Sorry i meant to up date this thread.....in the end i went for these: http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Product...16&GroupID=226

They look a lot nicer than the creative ones, and are rated about the same.

Thanks very much for the input guys.
