GAH! Amazon just put prices up to £175! I am currently in negotiations with them over it.

At the moment, I am leaning towards iAudio and Apple products... leaning towards the later (but only on the latest 5G iPods). But it really depends on your needs as well..
The inital reactions to Connect Player the SonicStage replacement are pretty awful. Where as SS 3.3 is usable and I believe the Vaio Util still works with the new A series, Connect Player is supposed to be terrible. At least you have three to choose from now.
Where can I get a £100 iRiver? is there a product code for it and what model is it? H10/H120/H320?
Video ipod, hahahahahahaha no.
If i wanted to watch video on a stupidly tiny screen, I'd use my mobile phone, not only does it have better battery life (yes with a triband mobile phone, you too can have better battery life than an apple product) but it just works. Granted 2GB miniSD cards cost almost as much as half a video ipod, but its smaller, lighter and better batterylife. No silly DRM, and i can play mpg, and WMV. Even anti MS people can't dispute that WMV is a great heavy lossfull codec. Not to mention windows media encoder is free and great (the SDK, 3 lines of code in .net you've made ur application).
But the thing is, it really dosen't "do it" for me. The reason been that video on such a small screen is limited to the likes of southpark and family guy. Even then you miss a lot of the suttle details. (but you can fit like 100 episodes on to a 1gig card).
So myself i think archos have the right idea, nice large screen. Size++; Batterylife--;
There is always another player thou, ipaq's etc. These things like the smartphones have wireless, but have fullsize SD, and can even have jackets for CF that can be adapted to use an HDD. Most of these devices have 9+ hours batterylife too.
Not to mention there a handy PDA.
just my idea on video players.

I agree as a video/media player, yes. It misses too many features to be concidered a real video player, even if you find the screen size ok. But as an MP3 player its a great extra and time killer for the train etc. I think people should choose a video ipod as a DAP and see the video as a bonus. They are not that big either, i think the form factor feels much nicer than previous ipods. The black one looks great too. But anyway, i would still go for a Sony for the reasons i have stated above.Originally Posted by TheAnimus
