Ipod - crap battery - what to do?

My Ipod battery is very hit or miss. Often it will run flat after 2 hours of playback, and sometimes when the battery is low, but not flat, it will just cut off and will have to be reset to run (losing my current playlist).

    Should I:

A: try and get apple to fix it... it is 18 months old

    or

B: find someone else in the UK that can put a new battery in - voiding my warranty (if its over a year)

    anyone else had similar experiences?

    My System: Coolermaster Centurion 5 (black) case, Intel E6750 Core2Duo, Tagan Easy-Con 530W, Asus P5B Deluxe WIFI, OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC, Samsung SpinPoint 200Gb SATA2 / 2 x Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200Gb SATA, 256Mb Sapphire ATI PCI-E X1950PRO, Creative X-Fi Xtreme 7.1, 19" Daewoo W9ZQ Black Widescreen TFT, 4Mb Virgin Cable Broadband (formerly Blueyonder) with Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G and DD-WRT firmware.

gosh, an apple product thats badly made, and's battery has failed, theres a suprise no one saw comming!

check out www.maplin.co.uk they've started doign battery replacement kits. However remeber the iPod battery isn't a user serviceable part, because apple think that good design isn't as important as making something they try to clasify as consumable in their warenty (so you've not covered after 6 months) as making everyone buy one to be part of the iPod gang. You might consider flogging it and getting something decent. A lot of companies make the batteries on their players easily removeable, this way in 10 years time when you bin it, you can seperate the battery from the player, this helps stop very nasty chemicals spreading so easily.

Try this website for replacement batteries you can fit yourself. I believe that they'll ship to the UK too.
