    5.1 sound in sky plus

Hello, I have recently purchased a sky plus box and I am having trouble connecting it to my H&B HT-6500 Home cinema system that includes a dvd player and 5.1 speakers. Any ideas on how I can hook up my sky plus box to the dvd player? My dvd player has a built in amp which all the speakers are connected to.

If you give us more details on what speakers and what inputs your amp has then yeah i can help. im assuming that the sky plus box has a digital coax output on it?

I'm not too sure if this is the case across all makes of sky plus but my pace box has an optical output on it. If the specs I have read on the H&B HT-6500 are to be belived it only has coaxial digital inputs so you are left with the option of connecting with standard stereo leads and listening in Dolby Pro Logic 2. As the only things I have seen to be braodcasted with a 5.1 soundtrack so far are a few movies (couldnt comment on the sports channels as I dont subscribe to them) then it doesnt seem to be too great a loss!

You can use standard phonos (red & white) but if you want 5.1 youll need to buy a coaxial digital to optical converter - you can get them at maplin, then you will get 5.1 from sky.
