    cricket with the 300 2.8

well... being the silly hungover fool i was i left the monopod at home! and strewth that 300 f2.8 is HEAVY! but shooting at 1/5000-1/8000 all day due to the good light, f2.8 and incredibly bright cricket whites.

timing was the biggest challenge after not losing all the highlights in the whites. just getting the ball in the shot was a start but getting it in a nice position with the bolwer/batsman looking good was really really hard. ended up getting a few i liked but i was dissapointed with the speed of the d70's AF again, but very impressed with the sharpness of the 300

    here are my efforts:

these are my favorites from what i've managed to look through so far. seems that 300mm isnt quite enough without a little cropping, idealy i'd like a 400 i think or a 1.4x converter.

    thanks

Awesome shots, but what I find most impressive is that, considering the DoF, the ball is sharp!

I reckon he took the action shots, then back home took a few shots of a ball, put the two together in PS and voila!

QFT. I'm not a sport person but I've seen worse pics than those in national papers!
