    Argh - too many choices :)

    Righty-ho folks.

    Before I start messing with a real (read- digital SLR) camera, I've decided to get another fairly good, mid-range camera for general snapping and whatnot.

    I've narrowed it down to the 2 following camera's but the choice between them is hard. Has anyone got any firsthand experience of the 2 model's listed as the reviews on dpreview are so similar it's hard to choose.

    The camera models I have been looking at are ;

    Canon PowerShot S2 iS Digital Camera 5.0 MegaPixel
    Canon PowerShot A620

    Oh and if you want to make me suffer even more add a few alternative suggestions

    i had the S2 iS and it was a good camera only real problems it had was that it was a litle too prone to purple fringing and the focus would sometimes be off, apart from that it was a good camera

    i'd probably add the panasonic fz7 to your list as its only a few quid more than the s2 and is probably the better camera

    oh and i suppose the panasonic tz1 aswell which is a bit cheaper than the fz7 and the most compact superzoom although it has no manual controls

    heh... thanks I'll go read up and download the manuals for the model's you've suggested later

    Phew... I'm glad someone replied and has used them. Thought I'd be picking the wrong one then.
