    iPod Newbie

Just got an iPod Nano - not taken it out of the box yet.

So from all the iPod junkies, what do I need to know ?

I take it I HAVE to use iTunes ?

All my music at home is stored as MP3 or WMA, can both be used, or do I need to ditch the WMA stuff ?

Anyone used/know of a decent armband for it so I can use it at the gym, have seen a few advertised but didn't know if anyone has any experience with them.

Any other "essential" or "can't live without" accessories I should think about.

I look forward to using it, as the last thing I touched with an Apple logo on it was my old Newt.

    TIA

Got it delivered to work, will have a play when I get home

Any suggestions on the alternatives to iTunes, or is it just a case for Google ?

    Cheers.

I have no issues with Itunes tbh, it will convert all you wma for you make sure you check what you want it converted to though, i use mp3 purely for compatibility issues. A quick google will help if you dont like itunes, though make sure its the up to date version not the one on the disc.

iTunes is a bit limited I feel, I prefer WMP but since it screwed a whole load of my tags (all the years got changed by one, and the label tags got overwritten) I frankly don't trust it. The one thing WMP does that no other player does AT ALL is support multiple artists.

Anyway, iTunes is fine with my iPod, Barakka, but there are other independent tools that let you upload and download from it. The problem you see is the iPod keeps a separate library file, so if you just dump music on it, it doesn't know they're there.

Get your settings in iTunes right before you add any tunes to the library or sync with your iPod, so it doesn't much up your tunes format/tags/file structure etc.
