    Confuzzled by Component

Hey chaps, i got myself a 5" screen that takes component input. Its a bit of a techie-job with soldering and wires and stuff (all credit to Rack!) only problem is, when i hook up my component cable to it, the screen stays white. it switches on and stuff, and the contrast controls work, but when i adjust the brightness nothing happens, just stays white.

Can anyone shed any light on this? i can hook up RGB and Sync to it, although i dont know what the Sync port is for, if it needs to be connected or whatnot.

    Cheers,
    Steve B

    Steve,

I don't know the answer to your question, but I think you must mean Composite - Component is the high end 3 x phono connection you get on the Dell widescreens, amongst others

Sounds like you have PC style RGB on there as opposed the AV RGP. I believe the Sync is reguired as it basically needs a regular PC VGA signal fed into it.

probably not, but its easy enough to convert from pc rgb to av rgb by putting a (iirc) 10k resistor on the sync cable, google homemade vga to scart cable
