Writing a CD
Right could somebody just clear this up for me please? I don't really copy CD's ever so i dont really know how you do it properly. I'm using Nero 6 and cant for the life of me work out how to do it.
There are 3 options:
Make Audio CD
Make MP3 disc
Make WMA disc
If i choose "make audio CD" and then write any type of file, be it wav, mp3, wma, it won't work in either of the cd players in my house. If i do "make mp3 disc" and add just mp3's it wont work. If i do "make wma disc" and add just wma files it wont work. So how the heck are you supposed to write a CD that will play in a CD player?
Cheers,
Chris.

Should be "Make Audio CD". Try:
- burning it at slower speed
- burning using a different brand of CD
-
What file type should I use then?
-
Shouldnt matter.
Its probably the CD player you're trying to use it in, many older CD players won't play CD-R/CD-RW disks
-
I guess its what you said Ben, i've tried on 3 different (newish) CD players and it doesnt work, so guess i have to buy some CD-Rs.
Cheers for your help,
Chris.

Are you currently using RWs then?
I think R disks are more likely to work but don't bank on it. If the player is a few years old and was either cheap or very expensive theres a good chance it won't work. Check the specs of your players

Very few CD players work with CDRW CDs. My Denon actually happens to but I've not had a CD player other than that one that does (unless its an MP3 CD player).

I was trying with CD-RW, so i guess that was the problem then. Oh well learnt something for next time! :D
Cheers!

At least the disk isn't wasted :)
I had major problems getting CD-Rs to play properly in my Golf CD player. It's known to be very picky, spits out many "copy protected" CDs. Had to use the VariRec feature of my Plextor Premium to get disks it was happy with. Funily enough the copies i made of the offending shop bought cd's worked fine after this :D
Just in case you are interested, here is what VariRec is/does:

CD audio is 2 channel 16 bit PCM, 44.1k sample rate.
Windows Media Audio (WMA), and MP3 will not work.
Some CD players are also MP3 players, so they will play mp3's.
EDIT
BTW, PCM = *.WAV files
Make sure you've selected CD/CD-RW as your drive in Nero - DVD will not work
