Loftbox and SKY+

I am looking to get a "loftbox" so can distribute my SKY TV to mulitple rooms in my house. The only thing is that on TVlinks website it does not offer much help in setting this up.

Has anyone got one that can give advise on how to set it up and does it work well with SKY+? Do you loose any functionality on the box? Also can you use those infra red redivers to switch the box over from any other room? Or any other options out there for doing this.

    Hope this all makes sense.

I assume the amount of responses indicates that no one uses this product or knows how to set it up.

the thing you plug in over cable will only work if the cable is unbroken

(any more than that i dont know) would a video sender not be better idea?

Sorry mate but i dont understand your first sentence.

Video sender is expensive and i only suitable for one room. I need to transmit the TV signal to multiple rooms.

What you actually want is a TV distribution amp..

This is based on a single input distribution amp, if you get a dual input amp then you can simply put the aerial and Satellite RF outputs stright into the amp, which avoids the double drop lead to the sky box

If you only use a bog standard splitter then you're going to end up with a fairly crap signal

Stoo's got it. We've got one in our loft, I just went blank. Yeh, you're gonna need to amp the signal or it'll be ****

How many TV are you looking to distribute the Sky signal too?

I run an AV business and am a certified Sky engineer amongst other things so can point you in the right direction.

What you need is a good quality coax cable going from each TV into a shared space, ideally an attic. So say you have 4 bedrooms, a TV in each then you need a cable from each TV into the attic space.

I would recommend using Webro WF100 coax cable. About £60 for a 250m drum or you can buy 100m drums for about £20.

Do you have an external aerial (other than your Sky dish?)? If so, hook this into the "RF input" on the Sky+ box.

You then need a cable from RF2 output on the Sky+ box into your attic space.

Then, depending on how many TV you have will determine the amp you will use. However, something like an F140 would be ideal (assuming you need to connect up 4 additional TV's?).

The amp draws it's power from the RF2 output on the Sky+ box so no need to run extra power points or PSU's behind your TV. The F140 will also pass TV link signals so you could connect some remote eyes up too if you wanted to.

Anymore info required then better off dropping me an email or MSN as I rarely get chance to browse the forums now!

    Cheers,

    Chris

Cheers fella, that is good info.

I need to transmit to six rooms in total (3 up and 3 down) The reason I chose the loftbox was because I was given an 8 way one for free, I just need to buy the rest of the stuff, also it can have multiple inputs that distribute down one coax cable. E.G. I have a Samsung LE32R74BDX TV in the living room so it would be handy to also add the roof ariel so the freeview could be used if needed.

    cheers for the advise.

this is the setup diagram that i have found.

    http://www.tvlink.co.uk/LB4%20COLOUR.jpg

I am thinking it seems straight forward but I will also need something to combine the two SKY+ inputs in to one cable. My main issue with this is does it mean that you will loose functionality of the plus box??

    Cheers for the advise.

According to this they are fully supported with the loftbox so hopefully it should be OK.
