It was on BBC1 Saturday night - did anybody watch it?
I thought it was a pretty good film - the plot dodged around a bit, but for the most part it was good. Ed Harris makes a good baddie, lol.

Borrowed the DVD some months back and thought it was incredibly boring in all honesty :(
am I wrong in thinking that the start of that film as the conscripts are running into stalingrad is the same sort of sequence that is in *Call of Duty*
I am bloody sure it is. Right down to the sharing of rifles and the snipering of the officers......
Well *Allied Assault* is the start of Saving Private Ryan..... and all the rest of it, so it probably is.
NS
I didn't understand any of the propaganda business :(
I thought this film was awful, I stopped watching it half way through I couldn't take any more.
Disappointing tbh
It 'could' have been great, but at the end of the day, Spielberg does it so much better ;)
Agree with Berti and Skii :)
Yes, Call of Duty takes sequences from many other films... EATG is a very beautifully made film, but it has a terrible script. Stalingrad is recreated in supurb accuracy, with landmarks such as the department store extremely accurate. It is based on a true story, and the ending almost exactly follows what Vassili Zeitzev wrote in his diary, although for me I thought the ending was a bit of a let down for a hollywood film.
I thought the battle scenes were excellent and the recreation of Starlingrad was great. However, I thought the love interest was very weak and tacked-on.
I also thought it was funny how everyone in the film (both Russian and German) had a cockney accent. ;)
bah i love the film shurrup....

nah, this is one of me faves, beautiful reconstruction of stalingrad, and, real cockney accents are better than fake german/russian 1's
PLus the imdb.com doesn't lie, film gets 7.3/10 - 12K ppl say so. Its the only place for really good reviews of films imo.

it was a hackneyed plot but the photography was superb.
I suspect that Stalingrad was even worse than that in real life.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film. *shrugs*
I've heard someone say it was 4 men per gun in reality.
In reality Vasilli Zeitzev was an acomplished sniper before he came to be at stalingrad, so he had a gun of his very own....
