    Wireless Multimedia Player

Anybody have the D-Link MediaLounge DSM-520 High Definition Wireless Media Player - digital multimedia receiver?
If so how has your experience been using it particularly with streaming video?

I too was interested in this, however i did some research on the web, i had a look at avsforums.com (an amercian based website). Users have complained of many niggles with it, maybe firmware updates may fix this.

There are quite a few of these about now, and I am also researching them. D-Link, Netgear, Pinnacle, Helios are names to look at. The Helios is a DVD player which also streams the usual WMV9, MPG and also .TS files !

Has anyone tried renaming .TS files to .MPG and streaming them ? Does it work as suggested elsewhere ?

    Any more ???

If you're considering the Pinnacle, then you should check out the HEXUS.lifestyle.review.

    Quite impressed, we were.

I have DSM-320RD (non-HD version but with card reader and DVD player). It came with EU firmware 1.01, which wasn't so good, so I had to upgrade to US firmware (much better and more stable) 1.03.
As to playback - I am using WiFi and it is OK most of times, but occasionally it loses connection to server and need to be reconnected. Not sure if it is my router (Linksys WRT54GS @ HyperWRT) or DLink.
Hopefully, I'll try it next week with Homeplug AV and see how it works.
One seriously annoying thing - it doesn't see IFO files, so if you have DVD movie on network, it won't play menus (no navigation of course) and sometimes it won't be able to get past animated menu if it is in same VOB as movie itself.

It works perfectly with Twonkyvision; somewhat incosistently with TVersity and I can't get it to work with Wizd and SwissShowcenter at all. Maybe its just me.

    David,

    Ah!

As for renaming .TS files to .MPG - I'm pretty sure I've done that but when I can locate some .TS files here, I'll have a little play and try to let you know.

Couldn't find any .TS files, so suspect that I was talking through my hat.
