    HEXUS Photo Challenge:"Loss of focus"

The "Letters" photo challenge was great but now its time to move on and start a new challenge

The rules are simple (reminder below too), you have two weeks to capture your best shot that fits the category, your shot must have been captured in the time from this post to the end of the challenge, no retro-posting please. the subject is:

    "Loss of focus"

We have had lots of questions in this forum about depth of field and the term bokeh has popped up more and more. So the aim of this specific task is to submit a photograph that highlights loss of focus. Good examples will of course use depth of field to highlight the subject.

Usual rules apply; its about your talent as a photographer but editing is permitted to highlight your subject, vastly editted images that severely distort things are not the aim. I usually suggest edits limited to sharpening and levels adjust (as per-usual from a dSLR RAW file for example) but in this instance use your editing wisely. Black and white and colour pictures are both allowed.

You take as many pictures as you want from now until Sunday October 8th - thats a whole two weeks. Then you pick just ONE to submit, multiple submissions will not be accepted.
Re-size your image to NO LARGER THAN 800x600pixels and 200K in size.
Upload you image to a file-server and send the LINK only to the email address below, if you send your actual picture it may not be included, it is your responsibility to upload it yourself
[a list of free image editing software and free image webspace providers can be found in the sticky in the Creative section].

Entries in by 22:30 Sunday 8th October

    nflood@gmail.com

Please state your Hexus User name when submitting your image

SEND NO IMAGES - send the link to the uploaded location. That should make it obvious and leave no doubt.

A thread will be started on Monday 9th October and Voting will commence for 5 days, the time voting ends will be made known. Images submitted late may not get in!

    Good luck

wheeeeeeee thankfully i've got this weekend off and i'm planning on abusing my camera this weekend, otherwise i'd be a bit stuffed due to being given an assignment by my agency for last week and next week as well as working weekends in my other job!

I just dont know how to interperate the title :S "loss of focus" does it have to be deliberate loss of focus, complete loss of focus (i.e there's no sharp foreground figure), or accidental loss of focus? or...anything as long as it's out of focus? :S

Read it however you like, the point of the challenge is to take the title and be creative with it. Therefore any part of the photo can be out of focus.

Personally mine had a sharp foreground and blurred background

Or the subject matter could be something to do with loss of focus....a student supposed to be revising, yet staring into middle distance...a race car crashing...stuff like that....
