AF140 screws too thick, possibly too short
Hey corsair gurus,
I'm trying to install my new AF140 and the screws that are bundled with it seem to be too thick. They refuse to go through the mounting holes of the fan. They also seem a little on the short side but given I cant even get them into the hole thats just an estimate.
Is it possible corsair bundled the wrong screws with some of the fans?

Hi Traldera,
Do you mind providing some photos? just to be sure. Although, I've never seen a case/issue where the screws that came with any of our AF/SP fans are the wrong ones. The screws are not meant to be tightened all the way, just enough to hold the fan in place. That is the reason why we have those rubbers in each fan holes. Those rubber will provide grip to hold the fan in place.
Re: AF140 screws too thick, possibly too short
Thanks for the reply greybeard.
I've had a friend tell me they are self tapping so might seem a little odd. Suggested just screwing them into the fan before attempting a mount. Ill try that and get back to you. It did seem odd, never had issues with Corsair products before
Re: AF140 screws too thick, possibly too short
I've no experience with this fan, but all case fans I've ever had won't take the screws directly into the mounting holes. They're self tappers rather than fastening into a thread.
Re: AF140 screws too thick, possibly too short
Well, I got the screw in a little way, looks like it could go further but it got stuck. Either way doesnt look right, Personally I think the screw is too short. Heres the picture:

It just doesnt seem right, My H100 had some longer screws that went through both sides of the fan and then into the radiator. Wouldnt it just be easier to provide similar screws with these to go through both ends? I mean this was hard enough getting one screw in outside of a case. No idea how I'll get these screws in when trying to install. I mean I suppose I can put them half into the fan first then screw them all into the case. Just very fiddly, not the same level of accessibility from my other corsair products.

I've just fitted two of these today in an air 540 the screws are a bit tight but fit fine just screw them through the outside of the case into the fan rubber mounts took about 10 minutes to take out the old (less than a week old but too loud) and fit the new ones

I wish that was an option, its an NZXT phantom....terribly designed case (with I got the 600T instead!). Can only access the fan holes from the front, so it has to be mounted as above.
Tried the local B&Q and couldnt find any suitable bolt screws :(
Re: AF140 screws too thick, possibly too short
Assuming they have holes all the way through you'll want a 30mm M3.5 machine screw+ suitable nut, assuming you have access to the back.

can you post a picture of the nzxt case where the fan is supposed to fit as i cant get my head around why the fan wont fit with the supplied screws
