I don't know why, but it suddenly stopped recognising it since I moved house (was fine before hand, however now it's not working).
The fans are stuck on high speed and it's really loud - I have no way of changing it.

Try to move the USB connector to a different USB header on your MB and see if that will make a difference.
I would try to uninstall Corsair Link SW and re-install it back. Make sure to delete the folder profile Link has created before install the SW again.
Where is the profile folder located? I had already tried everything else and unfortunately it didn't work

The folder will be at Users > Default (show hidden folder) > AppData > Roaming.
Since you are using the latest SW, when you uninstall Corsair Link, it might have removed it already.. but check anyways to be sure.
What's the next step from then on if it hasn't worked, just in case you go offline?

Are you using the latest Beta of the software? I had so many mixed results before updating when running on Windows 8.1

It is now showing, however it's not responding to changes in fan speed etc (LED Changing is now working).
Fans were responding to changes before upgrade to 8.1, and hardware wise nothing has changed since.
Are those fans 3pin or 4pin PWM fans? If they are 3pin and your cooler has a FW 1.07, then it is best that we send you the 4pin PWM fans
I believe they're 4 pin - they're the stock corsair ones connected to the CPU block

Just suddenly started working today, however LEDs are acting weird - constantly changing when I don't want them to.
had a simular problem when updating the bios , after the restart my fans went full speed , tried to start link but it would not start at all , uninstalled link and re-installed latest link from the website, after that it worked fine again.
Still wondering what happened and especially why
Glad to hear that the fans are now working.
What happens when you change the color manually using the color slider? does it react to the color you are selecting? Make sure create a profile and save it once you have selected the color then restart you system.
Is this the version that you re-installed? It sounds like the cooler went and reset when your flashed your BIOS. When it did, it needed to re-establish communication with the Corsair link SW. Most likely the reason why after re-installation, it worked again.
It doesn't react properly. Dark blue is more light purply blue colour etc And it doesn't stay set when I restart the computer

i am not sure wich version i had , it was downloaded with MSI live update for my new mainboard.
Right now i have version 2.4.5110 wich seems to work ok now, i did not delete any settings or folders either , i just uninstalled and downloaded the newest version from the website.
The one you showed is a beta version , i usely do not use beta versions because of unexpected problems i do not wish to deal with.
There are no issues with settings, either color settings from the leds or fans , just after the bios update i couldn't do anything anymore , including unable to open link-window at all even tho it was loaded in the background as i checked.
Therefor i could not change the settings to get the fans work back to normal again , since i need to be in the settings windows for it.
Anyhow it's solved and if it happens again i just reinstall it again , it's not that much of a hassle
It's possible that the problem lies on the LED pump itself. Without the Corsair link SW? does the LED defaults back to the white color? and you say Dark blue is more light purple, does it also mean when you select red, the color is pink? If this is a hardware issue (LED), then we need to get that unit replaced.
Nice to hear that you've got yours all figured out.. Just remember, if you are not having issues with the current version of Corsair link, then there is no good reason for you to flash the cooler's FW. Keep the version that works for you best.
