I've had enough of corsair link

I bought my H80i second hand and have nothing but issues with getting corsair link to work. I posted on here a while back with some problems and they're still not solved. The H80i doesn't even show in the software anymore. The fans are stuck on performance mode when I was testing an overclock and now when gaming, it's got to the point where I have to wear headphones in order to enjoy my gaming experience. Even my xbox 360 is quieter. It's definitely the CPU because when doing demanding CPU tasks it ramps up audibly - but even when doing simple web browsing. If I have 30+ tabs open and have soundcloud open on at least one then the fan becomes audible over everything else in the house (Even the tapping of my keyboard which has MX Blues).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Cameron

Sorry to hear that Cameron. Have you tried using the latest link version? C link 2.7.5339 is now available for download. Please make sure to uninstall the older version first before installing the new one.

Here is the official release with all the change log included.

Let me know if that version fixes the problems that you are currently seeing. Thanks

There was a fairly well documented problem with Corsair Link and Windows 8/8.1 - just google something like "corsair link windows 8.1 fix" - I had a similar problem when I first installed my H100i. A two minute trip to the registry and a software re-install sorted it, but it had me scratching my head for a couple of hours.

    Hope this helps.

I think this is what Spreadie was referring to; http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showpost...0&postcount=19

We have seen people in the past tried this registry fix and they were pretty happy with it, especially the ones that have detection issue. Unfortunately, we do not sanction that fix, due to it involves OS registry fix - And that is something that we do not take lightly. That said, you are welcome to try it, but it'll be at your own risk.

It's probably best to try the new version first and just go from there... Just a thought

To be fair, I haven't tried the latest version of Link - I didn't know about it until Greybeard posted the link (arf, arf) - I was about to lump Corsair in the same group as Asus for crappy software support, but I see that is unwarranted now.

In any case, I would agree - always best to try the latest version before getting down and dirty with the registry.

Re: I've had enough of corsair link

I have updated the software and using the registry fix I can detect it, but it's not effecting the H80i. I change the LED colour and while the computer is on it stays white, but when rebooting it goes back to pulsating red and blue - I've never set these colours. Fan speed is fine though. It's really annoying because I've never set the colour as red and blue yet every time I turn on the computer it goes red and blue until I have to set the colour and save the profile in Corsair Link.

Re: I've had enough of corsair link

That specific "LED profile not saving" bug is pretty persistent. We have tried different fixes in the background to correct the LED last saved to stick with the profile after a reboot. Unfortunately, none of them worked and it is still an outstanding bug with this current version (2.7.5339). It will require a new FW revision to address this bug that will be available in a 2.8 release.
