    EKWB titan x backplate

Hello, I need help after seeing these backplates are available. Can I use this on my Titan x without the use of a waterblock simply as an aid to passive cooling & asthetic look?.Can it be installed straight on top?, it does look like it would do that only im not sure as the websites advertise them to be used in conjunction with the Ek water blocks but also makes out that it can be used as passive cooling & asthetic, obviously naturally that's what it would do however my question is that is this "can be" a 'and' or an 'or' kind of thing like can be used as also for these purposes or just for passive cooling & asthetic also without waterblock. Thanks in advance I guess many others will want to know the same.

I had a quick look through the instructions when a mate was fitting his backplate and waterblock, and it does appear that they affix separately, yes.

    Re: EKWB titan x backplate

the 980 backplate cannot be used on its own as the extended screws are not the same size so it wouldn't be an easy job. best to email them and ask as they reply within 24 hours.

Don't bother... and ignore what I said.

This is in BOLD on the product page:
    "Please note:
    - The backplate does not serve as a standalone unit and is compatible with reference GeForce GTX Titan X waterblock!"
