    H80i CPU Cooler

I asked this on another forum and no one could give me a definite answer so thought Id go direct to the professionals.

I have an over clocked I7-5960X running at 4.2 ghz with a H80i CPU Cooler. I'm wanting to change this cooler for either the H100i or better still the H100i GTX cooler.
Access to the backplate is difficult other than taking off the entire motherboard etc, would either of the H100i or GTX version slot straight onto the H80i backplate/mounting screws etc and would the corsair link software be the same which is installed now.

    Thanks

    Mark.

    Re: H80i CPU Cooler

H100i looks to use identical block and mount hardware and no doubt will use the same software, the GTX version uses a different backplate but that will only be a problem if the actual standoffs are of a different length.

    Re: H80i CPU Cooler

Yeah, I'm thinking I could install the H100i with no issues too, might just buy the H100i GT though and hope the stand offs are of the same size/type.

    Thanks

    Re: H80i CPU Cooler

Just to add on to this. Both the H80i and H100i are from Coolit, hence why their bracket systems are the same. H100i GTX is from Asetek which has a different type of bracket. If you have an H80i right now and you don't want to dismantle the backplate to change coolers, then it is best to stick with CoolIt coolers as they will have the same backplate.

    I don't think that there is a H100i GT cooler.. H110i GT yes, but that's a 280mm spec cooler.

    Edit: H80i and H100i - Coolit
    H100i GTX - Asetek

IIRC the H series coolers are branded items, in other words they have been made by different company but then had a Custom Corsair ID added to them. The Link software is Corsair's own software though and is designed to work with any Link compatible hardware such as the PSU, and Hxxi coolers.

    HTH.

I apologize if my last post was a little confusing.. totally my fault for not providing complete information.

All Corsair Hydro CPU coolers are made and designed by Corsair, but they are sourced out from two different OEMs. One being Coolit and the other by Asetek. Corsair coolers that are sourced from CoolIt will all have the same bracket system/backplate (e.g. H80i, H100i). So if you have an H80i right now and planning to do an upgrade without changing the backplate, then H100i would be the way to go. H80i GT and H100i GTX are sourced from Asetek, they will have a different bracket system compared to H80i/H100i. If you are going to consider those Asetek sourced cooelrs, then you'll need to change the whole bracket system, including the backplate.

    Here's a simple decoder ring:

    Square Coldplate cooler - CoolIt
    Round Coldplate cooler - Asetek
