H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
Question around Corsair Hydro H-series coolers - are these suitable for 24x7 operation, e.g. for a home NAS or server type build? Following the death of my old motherboard, I now have an i7-3770 I'd like to build into such a system and the H55 and H60 both look like a good option for cooling.
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
Yes, I've seen many system builds (including my own) that utilizes AIO liquid CPU coolers for 24/7 operation. Those sealed system units are designed to last for a long time. I still have an H50 in an HTPC technically running for 4 years now non-stop, never had an issue. I do check the CPU's temp from time to time to make sure everything is in order.
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
Thanks Greybeard, that's good to know. Hopefully the H55 will fit into the case I've selected, looks like it should :)
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
Yup, no problem. As long that the case you have now has space for the rad+fan and can support 120mm rad spec, then you should be good :)
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
What do you mean by "support 120mm rad spec", is there more to it than just having physical space for the radiator in addition to the fan, and being close enough to the CPU socket for the hoses to reach comfortably?
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
Means that, the case is able to support 120mm radiator + fan and has enough clearance without protruding to other hardware.
What case is it?
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
Ah ok. The case is the In-Win IW-MS04. Looks neat, but should go in.
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
That's a nice little case. Not 100% sure but it looks like there's enough room between the rear and the HDD cage to mount a 120rad.
Re: H-series cooling for home NAS/Server
It should be OK for clearance behind the drive cage, it's clearance for the end tanks on the rad above and below the fan that will scupper the plan, if anything. I'll know in a couple of weeks or so, thanks for your advice on the cooler in the meantime.

That's good to hear. Yeah no problem at all. If you need anything from us, you're always welcome to message me :)
