    hydrocool parts

    Hi,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a source for Hydrocool parts in the UK

    e.g.
    socket 939 mounting plate
s775/AM2 mounting plates - should they exist.

    Thanks
    Mike...

Unfortunately, there are no more mounting kits available for the Hydrocool. However, I have a Hydrocool and a Nautilus 500 unit here with me. At a glance, the Nautilus 500 mounting kit "might" work with your Hydrocool. I asked Cool Guy, our water cooling guru, and here is his reply:

The block is slightly taller than the previous Hydrocool block. This was done to fit the flow profile since we moved from ¼” to 3/8” tubing. The Nautilus 500 retention might not provide enough clamping force to provide the contact necessary for optimum performance. We can send him one, if he feels like being a test subject.

My guess is that even if it does not work right out of the box, you can mod it a bit. It's a simple system and I see some ways to add some clamping force. A trip to the local hardware store should do it if needed.

    Just let me know.

    Worth a shot.

I have contemplated modding the Hydrocool to use 3/8" tubing all the way to the block (like others have done). The biggest hurdle with that was the obtaining the bigger Colder quick disconnect adapters (+ another block, etc, etc). I had never got around to it.

Can you clarify how I can go about obtaining one, via PM if necessary.
    Thanks
    Mike...

We don't have them in house and I do not know who the supplier is. You may want to do some Googling. I cannot ask today as we are closed on weekends. A decent online store that sells water cooling gear should be able to help. You can also take a look in our water cooling section at the Corsair forum.

    Mounting adapters?

    This may help you:

(ED: it won't let me post a url as this is my first post, just do a search under Scythe Universal Retention Kit...it comes up in the first few results)

I have a 478 block and use this for my socket 775...and have done for about two years. I also see it does certain AMD combinations. At that money it's probably worth a try. Don't remove the plastic film to stick on the base plate. It's not necessary and is a b***h to remove.

Now, anyone know where we can get the right coolant in the UK, at a reasonable price?

By the way, I have one of the original Hydrocool 200s and it still works like a dream. It must be getting on for 4 years old. I replaced the main fan with a quieter unit about 2 years ago, and have given up rplacing the tiny flow indicator bulb. I'm just wondering how much longer i can expect the pump to last? Whatever, it was great value for money.
