    MAtching RAM accross channels

    Hi

I have read that you should match channels with same make/model etc
At present I have 2 x 512mb Corsair VR DDR 400 - if I bought the same now would that be ok? Just wondering if chips etc change where everyone says it needs to EXACTLY match....

    Eye popping good!

Chips can and do change on our VS line based on supply, demand, and also newer/better ICs as they come along. You can "probably" buy a matching kit and run just fine, depending on your MOBO. However, the best option is to buy a 2 x 1gb kit so that are guaranteed to have no compatibility issues. EXACTLY matching is best and if you have issues with the new kit mating with the old kit, then you are stuck with 2 kits you cannot use together.
