    Corsair PC2-6400 C4 XMS2

I've been running 2x1Gb for about a year at 2.1 Volts at 4-4-4-12 quite happily on my Abit AW9D-Max. Bought another 2x1GB because the prices are down atm and I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate. The problem is it will not post with all 4 sticks in. The old sticks work and the new sticks work but not together.

I was going to up the voltage because of the stress of running 4 dimms but not sure what is safe/acceptable? Any advise/suggestions?

Will the motherboard see the 4 GB at start up or does it not go that far.

It may be that you need to update the Bios to the latest version.

    Downloaded the latest bios already.

The AWD9-Max has one of those fancy start screen where you see that or please tab for post screen or del for bios. It sticks on the screen.

With 4 modules you have doubled the load on the memory controller and you will likely need to increase the memory controller voltage.

I can get it to post showing the 4Gb with 2.2V but it looks up when loading windows vista. I've gone up to 2.35V with still no success. The next stepping is 2.45V which I got a bit concerned with trying. I don't want to knacker all my ramm and possibly other stuff but really want 4Gb of ramm I own to work.

You mean RAM voltage? You tried MCH (memory controller hub) voltage as Yellowbeard suggested?

Increasing the RAM voltage is not necessary and you are increasing it past the point of warranty. Please read above about the memory controller voltage.
