    Readyboost query

Hi. I'm currently using a Corsair 1 Gb Turbocache readyboost usb thing-a-magick with Vista, and am wondering if getting a larger readyboost drive would increase my system performance at all?

I've seen readyboost disks starting a £4.42 for 2 Gb up to £20 for 8 Gb, but dont know if these would actually make any difference performance wise.

If it matters, I'm using 4 Gb of system ram.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Re: Readyboost query

With 4gb of RAM, I cannot tell any benefit from using Readyboost. IMO, save your money unless you simply want a larger USB drive.

    Re: Readyboost query

Indeed, readyboost is only noticeably effective with agt 1gb ram. With 4 gigs, it's pointless (imo).

so in essence, what he said^^^

    Re: Readyboost query

Yea, I bought it with Vista when I had 2 gigs, I just saw an 8 gig one for £20 and wanted to know if it would make any difference.

I dont need the extra external storage, although I really need to invest in a second 500 gig samsung spinpoint HD

    So I wont bother.

    Re: Readyboost query

Here is chart showing the difference with and without readyboost. As mentioned, once you get to 1gb of ram the benefits of readyboost start to become negligible. I do find it handy to have a usb stick to carry around the portable apps suite on my keyring though
