    Re: PSU Help

It should in theory, however the VX450 to my knowledge only has a single 6pin PCI-E power cable for the GFX card, the GTX260 needs two, you could use an adaptor cable though.

I would opt for the VX550 just for the extra head room

See I would but it's well out my budget.

If you could recommend any other PSUs under £60 that would be great, thanks.

Oh and also the GTX 260 needs an amp rating of 36amperes and the 450W VX only has an amp rating of 33amperes.

I have and it comes up with the VX 450W, but it doesn't make any sense...why would it come up with that PSU because it only has 33amps on the 12v and the GTX 260 needs a minimum of 36amps.

    Re: PSU Help

Is that from the Nvidia site?

    That includes the entire system

GTX alone uses only 136W peak (about 11A on the +12V rail)

    Re: PSU Help

The recommendation you see for 36amps is for an entire system. Think about it, 36amps at 12v is 432w. There is no way a single GPU, not even a dual core 295 will ever come anywhere close to consuming 432w. The current PCI-e spec is capped at 300w for a single card, whether dual core or single core.

    Re: PSU Help

All depends on the rest of your system spec aswell.

I wouldnt use a dual rail 450W PSU (is the corsair dual or single?) PSU with a 260.

    Re: PSU Help

It's a single rail PSU. If you can sneak it into the budget or find a good sale, the VX-550 is still a better idea to give you a bit more headroom.

    Re: PSU Help

Its OK I ended up buying a http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s....html?OCZ-M500 for £54.

Its modular and it was a low price so I bought it.
