    Win corsair memory! Contest announcement

Our friend Vince Lucido, aka K|ing|n over at K|ngp|n cooling has just launced a new product for using LN2 or DICE to cool memory. These coolers are specifically made to fit DDR3 Dominator and DDR3 Dominator GT memory kits of 3 modules. The hole patterns also support 2 module kits on both Intel dual channel boards and AMD AM3 boards. As part of his launch, we have provided a 3 module kit of the GTX2 memory modules for Vince to give away to the contest winner:

    DOMINATOR GTX2

Here's the link and Vince's announcement. Feel free to enter and compete for these great prizes!

Shame I got an AMD processor and not an Intel, AMD sucks at SuperPi

Btw, the supplied background link doesn't seem to work.

It's true that "anyone" can enter, but "anyone" will also lose. The winner will probably own a liquid nitrogen cooled i7 975 or something equally ridiculous - hence Rob B's post.

Re: Win corsair memory! Contest announcement

What we need is a contest for the slowest 32m SuperPi time.

Then the challenge would be getting the SuperPi code to run on my ZX spectrum.

That actually sounds like quite an interesting idea. Sort of a "worst wins" competition .

I reckon getting even an old P3 would do the job, just put Prime95 on there and then set SuperPi to low priority.

Obviously, LN2 clocking is a niche and is not for everyone. If it not something you are interested in, this does not mean it is a bad contest. It's odd to me how and why people complain about events that are for fun and have free stuff.

Because about 1% of said people have even a remote chance of winning

We're in a recession you know (well, not technically) us mere plebs need free stuff too!

We certainly cannot dictate another companies product line. That's what Vince has chosen to manufacture and give away.

Re: Win corsair memory! Contest announcement

TBH i don't think HEXUS users are the target audience, i don't know of many benchers on here, sascha drops in every so often, but not exactly on a regular basis.

Just because it isn't aimed at you doesn't mean that it is a bad competition, and not all dice/ln2 session clockers are well endowed in the money department... Sure it damn well helps, but if you make sacrifices elsewhere and are creative you can still partake in your hobby...

If there is no competition then it's not a competition... It's just a lucky-dip...
This will appeal to some but not others...

And considering that the competition is basically to drive mem pots, it makes sense to have a competition based around that... It means that the person that wins actually has something to do with the product that is being pushed in the BG...

People bench with LN2/dice regularly, so why not just throw a prize into the mix?......... All a comp is, is an advertising method...

Seems like a great competition to me, i'm not involved with that side but it's still a good comp, should see some interesting results from it too.
