Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
TRUE + noctua 12cm + sythe 12cm
vs
H50 + noctua 12cm + sythe 12cm
Fans @ 1200rpm
Case: Antec P180 mini
Processor: Phenom II X2 555 BE (unlocked to 4 cpu cores) @ 4ghz (1.52v)
Results (OCCT stress test)
True: 56C
H50: 48C
If I set the top fan from low to medium or high the gap only increases but since I usually keep it low I thought this was the fair test.
If you plan on using the H50, case airflow planning is critical.

Was it easy to install? Do you need much room?
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
The only room you need is about an extra inch or so around the rear fan area which would be available anyway, other wise the pump/WC block is quite small. Overall far less bulky and more secure compared to a large tower cooler.
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
Just curious if you took corsairs advice and reversed the fan so it was a intake instead of exhaust or just bolted it on.

the fan doesn't come attached to the radiator so its a concious decision you have to make when installing rather than just being a "leave it"
however i have it as an intake
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
I am not using corsairs fan :embarrassed:
I am using a noctua high pressure fan and a sythe quiet fan. They are set as intakes.

Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
I've read (though since you've found pretty decent cooling improvements anyway) that push-pull is the way to go with H50s. Ever thought of giving that a try?
I guess it would probably end up being a fair bit noisier on the other hand, what with having an extra fan, so possibly not worth it..
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
I have it as an exhaust in an antec 300 with a single intake and a 140mm fan right above it. It works perfectly, it handled my i5-750 at 1.46vcore before I decided that was a bit of a silly voltage. The cooling was no issue though.
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
Interesting results, thanks for posting. I've been tempted by this cooler for a while now just not sure about the durability, would you say the build quality is good? I'm torn between this or keeping cheap and getting a titan fenrir?
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
It's good build quality from what I've experienced but some people's have been noisy and hot, it varies I think.
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
Why does the noise vary? Is it the fan they use, or the actual pump that varies in noise?
Re: Well I took the corsair H50 challenge.
I meant that some people get faulty units, and complain of a noisy pump, this is very rare though I take it. on the whole they are quiet, mine is.

Thanks for that clarification. And yes, our failure rate is VERY low.
