Thanks for the awesome 550D, great work

I recently purchased the Corsair Obsidian 550D and absolutely love it. Superb design and great flexibility.

I love the quick release side panels, makes checking components or adding new ones simple and easy. The remove-able hard drive cages are great and the HDD mounts work well to reduce vibration and are easy to use. Cable management is a breeze and makes the inside look so much more spacious, does wonders for airflow. Like the 140mm fan locations and the rubber mounts provided for them. Easy to access magnetic dust filters makes system maintenance quick and painless. PSU rubber mounts reduces vibration and helps my PSU be very quiet. Reverse-able front door is clever although a bit difficult to open. Front panel with simple power and reset buttons works great; the power light, being white, lights up the room when left on over night, would be awesome to get a button to switch it off.

Over all this is my favourite case and I recommend it to anyone in the market for a new case. Well done with creating such an awesome case.

I have been using the same case for about 6 months now and I agree with everything said. A great case that has been clearly intelligently designed. It lives up to it's goal of running quietly, on normal I can't even hear that it's running, one thing I notice is I used to hear the HDD spin up and down a lot on my old case, with the 550d, never heard them ever, even at night when it's quiet. Airflow is good though if I am going to play a intense game I take the top cover off and activate the usually off fans with a fan controller. It isn't necessary but I like it to run cooler.

Does it cancel out noise easily at full load?

If you use low noise fans you won't hear them at all, anything below about 20dB is effectively cancelled out. The noise reduction is improved if you keep the top fan slots vacant but I prefer the extra airflow provided.

If you use high performance fans that are louder it reduces the noise considerably compared to my previous CM690 case, had the performance fans in the same configuration.

Which ever configuration you choose the case does well to reduce the noise coming out of it.
