    Asus P5KC + corsair memory

    Hi,

    I've checked on the compatiblity cahrt for the Asus P5KC motherboard but it only shows options for DDR3.

    At this stage I want to use DDR2; does the performance suffer in anyway due to having both memory options available on the motherboard?

    2x1GB Corsair TwinX XMS2 Dominator, PC8500

    and then review DDR3 in the future.

    I am not aware of any drawbacks of using DDR2 vs DDR3. The P35 chipset OCs very well in general and should do well with DDR2 or DDR3. The PC8500 is an excellent choice for memory. Also, the DHX or XMS PC6400 variations would be good if you wanted to go for a lower priced kit.

    Thanks for the reply;

    May go for the cheaper option since I may well upgrade in the future anyway.

    2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800),
    240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP
