Memory timings issue on Gigabyte G33 board

Just wondered if anybody can help me (looks at Yellowbeard).

I have 2x 1GB Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400 C4 (Part number TWIN2X2048-6400C4) installed in a Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R in duel channel mode (see "my system" link for the rest of my components).

As I understand it the timings for these modules should be 4-4-4-12 however, on checking the timings using CPU-Z I find them to be 5-5-5-18.

All motherboard settings are at auto for voltages (1.9v) and they are set to use SPD settings. The is no prevision in the bios to manually change the memory timings only the frequency but I would have hoped it would have detected the correct timings, obviously not!

Any help gratefully received if you need more info then let me know!

Ctrl +F1 is what you need when you in the bios sceen, that will bring the advanced settings , then into MB intellingent tweaker(M.I.T) where you can change the SPD settings.
you will need to change the Voltage settings to +0.2 to give it 2.1Volts.

Thanks for the info, just did it and woo my timings are now correct does seem strange that when its set to SPD that it detects the wrong settings though, but hey not complaining now I know how to sort it out.

Your MOBO did detect the correct settings by SPD. The memory is set to boot at default timings of 5,5,5,15 and 1.8v and by SPD so that it can be compatible with a wide variety of boards. The 4,4,4,12 timings and the 2.1v voltage must be set manually. Glad to see you have the timings sorted.

The only reason I had assumed the SPD settings would be 4-4-4-12 was that in CPU-Z thats what it comes up with in the SPD tab! But hey its a non-issue now as its all running smoothly at the right timings

Is that the first or 2nd entry under the SPD tab? Also, does 5,5,5,15 show up under the SPD tab.

At work atm will check when I get home and let you know, however I do know its the first values that it shows me i didnt click anything to change them on that tab.

Okay, just checked and the 4-4-4-12 timings are the first and only set of timings shown. Additionally the timings were previously 5-5-5-18 not 5-5-5-15 as you suggested.

you need to update that cpu-z to 1.41 then it will show up correct.

LOL...I missed that. I was wondering why the SPD was showing up incorrectly.
