    TW3X4G1600C9D & Gigabyte P55A-UD4P

    Hi there,

Hi there, I have just built a new computer with and intel i7-860, Corsair 4GB TW3X4G1600C9D, Gigabyte P55A-UD4P, Windows 7 ultimate and ATI 5850.

At first i had a problem where the PC would just automatically reboot at random stages while in windows and while in the bios. Since then i went into the BIOS, then went to MB Intelligent Tweaker, then Advanced Memory settings and then turned the Performance Enhance mode from TURBO(default) to Standard. Since i have done this the PC has yet to restart automatically and has been on for a decent amount of time, but i don't know if it has really fixed the problem.

I have now realized that that this RAM i have is listed in the "Dual Channel DDR3 Memory for AMD Phenom II processors" section of the corsair website and i am clearly using an Intel i7 Setup. If i continue to use this RAM will it damage my computer?

Also this RAM is meant to run at 1600mhz and it only runs at 1066mhz, shouldnt it automatically run at 1600mhz?

By the way i never chose this ram from the start i originally chose the CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 ram and was offered the TW3X4G1600C9D as a free upgrade and i was like "bonus", but did not realized it is for AMD's.

Some help here would be great! thanks

    No, and no.

If you want the RAM to run at the faster speed, you have to set it to run faster, it will automatically go at the speed dictated by the processor/motherboard.

Because this Ram runs at higher voltage u rekon it still wont affect my computer? Maybe this is what was causing my PC to automatically restart?

It all depends. The memory needs 1.8v to run 1600. So, if you are trying to run it at 1600 then that is likely the problem. Try it at 1.65v and 1066 or possibly 1333.

If you want 1600, you'll need to change it to a kit rated for 1.65v , 1600, and on Intel platforms.

Running voltage higher than 1.65v RAM with an i3/5/7 will damage your processor - send it back when you can and take the RAM out at your earliest oppurtunity!
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
