    Arrow Memory Issue

    i have a asus mobo: P5G41T-M LX
    CPU: Q6600
    windows 7 64bit (enterprise edition)

    PSU: 800w by xion
    GPU:ati 6950 2gb

the corsair memory im trying to install is,
    SKU# CMX8GX3M2A1333C9

the system is not in anyway overclocked.

    problem:

i removed the old kingston x2 4gb sticks, popped these in, which ive done millions of times w/o issue..

i check and double check everything is secure, no loose wires..etc.

press the power button... it turns on, then turns off...then back on again..stays on, BUT the screen wont even goto post or to bios...

i take them both out, put the kingston back in, sure enough, they work...

so at this point, i know its the corsairs..

so i put ONE corsair in the channel, and the other channel is kingston.

it boots to bios, look at memory, it doesnt even see the corsair, does the kingston..

so i switch out that corsair for the other corsair, the machine just turns on, off then back on again.

so im pretty sure its the corsair sticks, but want to make sure to be on the safe side...

my mobo supports 800/1066/1333 OC, dual channel, obviously.

i sent a ticket into corsair, but it being the weekend, wont hear back from them for a while...

any ideas...suggestions, i might just return them back to the store where i bought them from and switch out for another pair.

on corsairs memory finder, it doesnt show my board.

    Re: Memory Issue

It's most likely an IC density issue. Older chipsets can't always work with newer RAM. Look at your Kingston and look at your Corsair, under the heat spreaders. Do each have RAM chips on both sides of the module?

    Re: Memory Issue

ok. weird, last message didnt post...

anyway, yea, talked to corsair tech, they said its a high density memory kit, i need the low one..
    they gave the number, CMV8GX3M2A1333C9

so ill just return the other one.
but they wont get anymore in til a few days...

Any suggestions on a good 2 sticks of 4gb (8gb paird set)

i thought corsair was better than kingston...
    but maybe a better one?

    Re: Memory Issue

Your problem here isn't a quality one but of compatibility.

    Re: Memory Issue

    actually its both.
quality in the past was Corsair.
Compatibility was, well...what ever the board said.lol but obviously not in this case.

ill just try and find a chart for desktop memory, something that says, *so and so brand name* is better than all of them in speed,performace..etc, then ill find that and make sure its low, low density is used alot more than high density.

No, it's not both. It's the fact that ancient chipsets cannot address newer memory. The RAM chips that were compatible with your chipset are no longer made. Therefore, we cannot make RAM with them. It has nothing to do with quality, it's the natural evolution of the IC industry.
