Dominator Platinum 2666

Hi,

One for the bearded fellows really - I have a Dom Plat 2666 quad kit in my x79 board, but can not for the live of me get it to run at 2666.
I am running stable at 2133 @ 1.66v (manual entry in bios). When I try XMP it won't post and have to memOK it.

I am assuming that it comes down to the memory controller on my CPU, but have you any insight in getting the speed to 2666mhz on the i7 3960x?

It may be to do with the memory controller; it officially supports 1600mhz. A bit of voltage may help. Failing that you may be able to tighten the timings if its running slower.

Many thanks. I didn't think about tighter timings, but TBH I am amateur when it come to this with only a rough grasp of the art that is overclocking.
I knew the memory controller is only rated to 1600mhz which is why it's luck that i have 2133mhz I guess!
