Corsair vengence 1600 24gb kit and x58 help
Hi,
I installed the corsair vengence 1600 24gb kit in my asus x58 sabertooth core i7 oc 4.2 system and i am missing 4gb in the bios and windows 10 64 bit? it only shows 20gb installed
i have the dram timings set to 9-9-9-24
any thoughts please, i have checked my cpu and its fine and i have re-seated the memory sticks so i know they are installed good, i have seen this seems is a common fault
just wondered if theres any other safe settings i could try
any help appreciated

Check with Asus - it's likely to be a motherboard issue, or a CPU socket issue. There may be an updated BIOS which will help.

Thanks for your reply, i reset my bios and removed the OC setting and all 24gb on restart is present,
i then re-loaded my OC profile that came installed on my mobo (scan computers oc profile) and im back to 20gb?
so its not the CPU in my opinion, it has to be the bios or OC setting that does it, think i might just live with the 20gb rather than lose my OC profile and be back to square one
cheers for the info, any other tips appreciated

The memory controller is on CPU, so don't rule that out completely. But there could be a BIOS setting that's optimised for high speed rather than high density/fully populated RAM.
If you can check what changes in the SCAN OC BIOS then you could manually apply the CPU only changes to your working BIOS profile, leaving the memory alone - but it depends how they overclocked. I'd tend to go for that approach (building up from a working profile) so that you can check exactly at which step you get the problem.

BIOS needs tweaking, best bets to find a forum with a x58 section as this will have been addressed before.
Re: Corsair vengence 1600 24gb kit and x58 help
Scan have informed me today that they do not have my OC settings to send me anymore, this is do to the age of my bundeld set-up i guess?? they also say that the original OC setting used by them is probably not compatable with the extra amount of memory i have put in.
i did adjust my timings from 8-8-8-24 (as OC setup) to the auto all settings, but my system would not boot , i have read that adjusting the ref cycle time to 100 can sometimes fix this, it is currently `208` if i leave other settings at 8-8-8-24 as OC and just change ref cycle time of 208 to `100` do you think this will hang my system again
Slightly dissapointing, so i will definatly not be updating the bios.
The memory is good its my bios OC settings that need adjusting somewhere yes currently
thanks for your help
