    Re: Vengeance or Dominator

Both will perform equally well. Typically the Dominators will have better overhead for OCing but of course, that is not guaranteed. The Dominator also allows for more customizations of fins, cooling, add ons like the LED readout, etc.

I personally have the Dominators in, mainly for the overheads but either would be good!

Dominators carry quite a price premium here in the UK. Very few applications record SIGNIFICANT performance gains in real world applications to warrant using the higher speed, and cost, dominators. I'd personally recommend the Vengence series on that price/performance basis.

The most performance gain you will achieve from a 2700k is by overclocking the multiplier on the CPU.

    Re: Vengeance or Dominator

I'd say go with the vengeance LP variants, get 1600 MHz and then stick them in and load up the XMP settings.

This way your not having the issue with larger CPU coolers fouling on the memory and in all honesty looking at the charts on anandtech, going for memory faster than 1600 MHz doesn't give enough of a performance gain to warrant the extra costs involved with the faster RAM.

    +1

Also the Vengeance Arctic White stuff is good as it has a lower 1.35v XMP voltage.

This means the memory can be quite versatile should you wish to dabble in overclocking the memory.

    Re: Vengeance or Dominator

I was looking at getting the vengeance 1600Mhz at 1.5v, this is better than the 1.35v isn't it? Would overclocking the 1.35v be any better for me than just getting the 1.5v. Or is it just overclocking for fun?

Me too. Personally, I reckon the extra stuff offered by the Dominators is just frippery.

    Re: Vengeance or Dominator

I opted for the Vengeance myself, because of price difference and not much difference in performance in real world.

    Re: Vengeance or Dominator

op im in the same situation as you. Im leaning towards vengance LP purely as they are 1.5v vs 1.65v on the dominators.

Im looking at the LP varient as i have heard tell of the full profile heatsink on the vengance being more cosmetic than usefull and as has been mentioned getting in the way of cpu coolers.

    Re: Vengeance or Dominator

Vengeance have a much better 'bang-for-buck' than the Dominators so it really depends on why you are building your PC and what you plan to use it for!

Personally I have had both and prefer the Dominator GT as with black extender fins they look pretty badass through the side window, however my PC build is more a question of what looks good than economy.

The vengeance kits are very good value and still of some deal of over-clockability...so, I would say, if budget is not a factor, go with the Dominators, otherwise Vengeance are going to do the job perfectly well. Also, if you are building a gaming PC, there's little point in having anything over 1600 MHz memory speed as it will do very little to improve your FPS!

    Cheers, krs

    Re: Vengeance or Dominator

Dominators are probably better for overclocking but I would recommend going for Vengeance as it is better value for money.
