    Overclocking i5 2500k issues. :(

    Hey guys,

I can't get my CPU stable past 4.2GHz. ;L I entered the 1.330v as the vcore in the BIOS but in CPU-Z it shows 1.256v. I even tried 1.350v and this doesn't even go past 1.300v (can't get 4.4GHz stable with this voltage ).

ATM I think my CPU is stable at 4.2GHz with a voltage of 1.256v shoowing in CPU-Z. Whatever other voltage I try in the BIOS going from 1.330-1.350vish I can't get 4.4GHz stable.

My max temp running Prime95 @4.2GHz is 66-68C. Any advice please. ;L Is it safe to get the CPU cores upto 75C temp also? Thanks.

You could try upping your PLL voltage a little....but 75c is not a CPU temperature I would be happy with...take the side off your case and see if the temperatures drop significantly....if they do you might want to look at your cases airflow.

It's not at 75C I was just wondering if I could go up from 4.2GHz what sort of temp will I reach at about 4.4-4.5GHz. What is PLL voltage? :S

The highest I would let my cpu go is about 80c but not for a 24/7 use, your cpu may not be as capable of reaching those speeds as others are due to the silicon lottery

That motherboard is not a premium board and looks like it has no heatsinks on the mosfets, and this can really affect the amount of voltage i'd be happy to put through a chip. I'd say you're not unlucky to get to 4.2ghz so I'd be happy with that. Do you really need the speed?

I agree, anyway 0.2ghz doesnt make a big difference
