    quieter CPU fan

I am currently running a zalman cpu fan on my e6600 processor. Can anyone reccomend a silent/quiet fan? I want to be able to work in the same room as this computer, but currently it is impossible!

    budget upto 50 max..

thermalright ultra with akasa viper 120mm or 140mm, or if you want complete silence try fanless option, never tried myself but aparently not bad at all

    Re: quieter CPU fan

It's probably best to mainly leave questions for now. I'm not making assumptions, so I'm afraid that I'll be asking the most obvious questions too!

Are you using fan speed control, Adam? I'm just wondering if it's unnecessarily constantly whizzing away at its full rate...? There are two options here and they'll wind down or increase the speed of the fan with the varying temperature.

Is it just a fan that you need to add to your existing cooler or are you looking to replace everything? Do you have any tight restrictions for what size of heatsink will fit in the case? Should you not have used or seen a cooler before, there's quite a range of options that go from small and compact to tall and very, very wide - and with that, lots of choice up to your price point.

    Re: quieter CPU fan

Assuming its a 3 pin fan just buy a cheap zalman fanmate and use that to turn the fan speed down to something you like.

I have a couple spare myself.
