Looks ok if devices are the same or lower price as similar atom machines, I'm in no rush to replace my E350 based netbook and I don't feel too bad about ordering an ex demo based Brazos 2 nettop to use as a media centre though (at less than £150 it was a steal).

So thats the tablet part? I will be interested to see what it is like with the clocks turned up, but that doesn't seem to be embarrassing itself.

AMD shares have had a big rise recently, so it shouldn't be a complete surprise that in the absence of any new announcements of meaningful product wins some analysts might think the stocks are at a local peak and would recommend selling.

Go back to the dail mail! It's G&S's job to recommend buy or sell etc. they're not doing it to manipulate stock because 'they don't want it to get higher'.

It is disturbing though how they mainly gauge the state of AMD on how well Intel are doing though. I am sure a quite short shell script could do a better job than most analysts. Indeed in the age of "Quants" I am surprised they still exist.

At the moment AMD is intricately linked to Intel - they don't have enough business outside of the markets that Intel competes in not to be. But that's what they're trying to do and their success (or not) at that is of keen interest to investors (and thus analysts).

In the past if AMD has done well and gained market share from Intel, analysts have pointed to Intel not doing as well as predicted and downgraded CPU vendors, including AMD. So if AMD do well, they are punished. Scares me that these people might influence what happens to my pension money.

Yeah there is an element of damned if they do, damned if they don't, but Intel's market share is so large that losses to AMD can kind of get lost in the noise of wider market moves, while the reverse doesn't always hold true.
