The board is a Gigabyte AM3+ board (GA-970A-DS3) which only has a 4pin! So do the 6100 only need a 4pin and the 6200 need a 8 pin ATX 12V power connector as i would think the already overclocked 6200 would need the extra power?

The 8 pin connectors were originally for workstation EATX motherboards, which can have more than 1 CPU on them.
You sometimes get more power connectors for SLI/crossfire boards as the graphics cards are allowed 75W each and with 3 or 4 graphics cards thats a lot of power, the CPU should be fine on 4 pins.
