    Haswell CPU list leaked??

    http://www.overclock.net/t/1336954/g...k-onto-the-web

Core clockspeeds appear to be similar to IB and the TDP for standard parts is increased.

The IGP core is now called the HD4600 and is standard with all Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs.

I would have expected it to be called the HD5000,unless of course the jump is less than from the HD3000 to the HD4000 series IGPs.

why do they always disable the VTd etc on unlocked chips?

It appears so,as it also has only 6MB of L3 cache too, which the Core i5 CPUs contain.

    Edit!!

Still, why is the IGP called an HD4600??

I thought it would be massively faster than an HD4000??

    If so why not HD5000??

Let's not forget this is totally unverified and from a dubious source.

The Chipset is looking a lot better for the Haswells. 6X SATA 6Gbports, 6 X USB 3 etc.

    Re: Haswell CPU list leaked??

Even if this leak turns out true, Haswell isn't much processor power over Sandybridge. So, if this leak is true, am I right that there would be no reason upgrade a 2500k to 4670k, bearing in mind I'm soon to get a 7850 2GB?

No,and even if it was faster by a reasonable amount it does not make your Core i5 2500K suddenly slower, right??

Yeah these days you probably want to skip two generations before upgrading, certainly if it is a like for like upgrade, e.g. i5 to i5.

Actually the IGP clockspeeds look similar to what is said in this SA article:

If it was me I wouldn't bother.

I'm going to upgrade, but I only have an i3-530.

    Re: Haswell CPU list leaked??

ditto but got the 540. If I'd waited just a few months I could have got SB but was put off by the whole B2 revision bug problem going on when i ordered. should have just sat it out for B3 to arrive. Idiot me. then I waited for IB, but it clocks hotter albeit quick sync etc get better. Now I'm waiting for whatever is next (Haswell?) and to get more USB3, PCIe3 or 4 or whatever it comes with, more SATAIII and thunderbolt onboard and then I will upgrade. Or who knows maybe AMD can do something dramatic and upset the hierarchy. Now that I would love to see happen (on so many levels).

Also if it is another pointless change of socket (I seem to recall the change from 1156 to 1155 wasn't strictly necessary, but more a matter of Intel's choice to remove a pin) then seems slightly silly now getting IB when you know in 6 months it will not be upgradable for newer chips in future.

    Re: Haswell CPU list leaked??

and does anyone know if this change of pin count is really necessary, or just marketing decision for the benefit of Intel and its chipset manufacturers? I mean, people would still upgrade mobo for the new feature set but it hammers those on lower budget who can only afford to upgrade in limited chunks at a time.

It's mainly to stop you putting it in a motherboard with the wrong chipset, as the chipset probably needs to be updated for Haswell.
