    Best cooler for i7 2600K

What would you guys say is the best cooler for an Intel Core i7 2600K.

I'm not that interested in OCing but I want it to be an option in the future,

I am interested in noise tho so if you guys can recommend a quite cooler that will keep this thing cold would be great,

    Cheers.

Well best is extreme cooling. Then water. You might be best to specify a budget.

It's a nice chip that doesn't need much cooling, even for OCing.

The artic cooling freezer 7 pro is a step up from the retail HSF - very quiet, good for moderate OCing: http://www.ebuyer.com/176157-arctic-...66-ac-frz-7pr2

A step up is the freezer 13 - suitable for more OCing, but less quiet:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/253477-arctic-...ucaco-fz130-bl

The hyper 212 is a good alternative to the above.

Then you can step up further can go for integrated water units like the Antec kuhler 620:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/255491-antec-k...761345-77085-9

Which would cover pretty much any OCing need bar extreme stuff.

Re: Best cooler for i7 2600K

    Thanks for the suggestions,

I have been interested in watercooling (closed loop) but I don't know if I'm being stupid or not here but pretty much all (apart from the dual 120mm fan) watercooling systems have 120mm fans. My case doesn't support 120mm fans, it's only 140mm. Would I be able to switch out the 120mm fans from the radiator with a 140mm one?

and budget really isn't that much of an issue but I don't want to be doing any oil cooling etc.

    Cheers

If you still have the colossus case, it supports 1 x 230mm or 1 x 140 or 2 x 120mm in the roof or a 120 or 140mm in the rear. H100 fits easily in there

Re: Best cooler for i7 2600K

If you can afford the H100 or similar sized close-loop water coolers, go for it. You will get a quieter run for the same performance as half sized water coolers or higher performance for the noise.

Yeah been looking at the H100,

What would you recommend the H100 or H100i?

Re: Best cooler for i7 2600K

H100i, better looking pipes, better fans, on screen control via software and the pump voltage problem is supposed to be fixed. If you think you can fit a 140mm rad, corsair have just announced the H110 & H90. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/cor...110,20566.html

Just had a look at that, Looks good. Won't be able to fit the H110 but I would the H90.

Not sure what to go for, H90 or H100i

Re: Best cooler for i7 2600K

I really don't get why people are so keen on spending nearly £100 on a H100i or similar unless they really need the performance.

In terms of noise the stock cooler is actually remarkably good, obviously temperatures aren't great but perfectly adequate for stock speeds.
Like kalniel says a very humble air cooler like the Freezer 13 is perfectly capable of supporting typical overclocked speeds and is quiet as well.
Over 9db quieter than the H100i.

Re: Best cooler for i7 2600K

If you are looking at air cooler, The arctic freezers are great. I have the arctic 13 pro which has the 8mm heatpipes and the 120mm fan as apposed to the arctic 13 which has a 92mm fan. Removing the top arctic sticker makes the cooler look alot better. I changed it for the Noctua NH-U12P-SE2 (couldn't get it on ebay quick enough) and found this to be around 6 to 10 degs hotter than the arctic pro even though it had 2 fans at max. Probably due to the skinny nical platted heat pipes. @ a 4.2oc my arctic pro 13 temps below are from my pc which has been gaming for a good few hours on and off for at least 5 days. Temps should be better as I use Enermax T.B.Silence Case Fans 800rpm.

Anyone know if you can get replacements of the fan connector cables corsair use for the h100i, I broke one of the fan cables that goes into the pump and so am currently on a push setup. Have the extra fans for push/pull but need the second cable. Anyone know? Corsair never got back to me

Yeah exactly the ones I need, the y splitter cables which have the 4 pins on them. Surprised corsair dont supply them to buy separately tbh, although how I broke it I do not know.

    Thanks anyway mate

Thanks for the advice, I opted for the Arctic 13 Pro on your recommendation.
