Weird, numerous sources cited the new Richland chips as coming in the following SKUs at the first instance;
A10-6800K Radeon HD 8670D/ Quad Core 100W
A10-6700 Radeon HD 8670D/ Quad Core 65W
A4-4400 Radeon HD 8370D/ Dual Core 65W
This A4 4000 might be the last hurrah for this generation (7xxx onboard graphics) APUs or just the new entry level? It is proudly advertised as a bang for buck chip; 3GHz dual core with 7480D graphics for £32? At this point, you're practically losing money NOT building AMD HTPCs.
CPU-world say it is Richland as well.

Scan claim to have it in stock.

£32.88?
What a a rip off! 88p too much imo!
"DDR3-1333 support"
Could it be a batch of Richland A4-4400s with a sub-par memory controller?
Richlands are supposed to be compatible with 1866Mhz +OC
Sandy Bridge only had 1333 support officially, but I think a lot of people run 1866+ quite happily.
But Trinity has official support for 1866, as should Richland. You should be able to get up to 2400 too.
Could just be a mistake by Aria's headline writers, of course
How the HELL that CPU got a better BOX cooler that a A8-5600K??? (AMD A4-4000 cooler vs. AMD A8-5600K cooler)???
But yee, for £32 is a MUST HAVE!!! Wonder how it behaves with under voltage and with a cheap MoBo?
FZ has some marketing slides for the A4-4000.

Another one for sale but £30 more expensive than Trinity???
I hope that isn't the real price, especially as graphics performance is barely any better:
Thats the 65W A10 6700 at Scan which is clocked higher than the A10 5700. You are probably looking at 10% to 20% better performance for the A10 6700 over the A10 5700. Pricing seems weird,and hopefully its placeholder pricing as the A10 Richland CPUs are not officially released ATM. OTH,it could be that they want to clear out the older Trinity chips without dropping prices. We will soon find out!!
Richland is meant to be more of improvement for lower TDP SKUs,especially mobile ones. The IGP is meant to re-organised for better efficiency, and there is addtional logic which means TDP and power are better balanced between the CPU section and IGP section.

Hmm well these prices are a little better, but not much :/
Still if the performance is there.. any reviews?
And doesn't even come with Sim City!
Guru3d in first with the review;

It's like Haswell all over again, a big disappointment.
20% more expensive than Trinity
10% more power
2-5% faster on most taks
14% faster encoding
Why is it so much more expensive than Trinity? Just for some minor clock speed improvements that don't translate into real world advantages.
Price will probably come down to settle around 10% above Trinity. It's not all that disappointing, at least to me: it was always just a refresh - Kaveri is the big overhaul.
Power consumption is lower per Bit-Tech;

(on balance, it's probably about the same as Trinity)
