    A10-5800K vs 1055T

so which is better? toying with the idea of changing my kids pc (1055T and 4GB of 1333) for an A10-5800K and board... the crux is , it would be CF with a 6670 on the A10 as well.

    Re: A10-5800K vs 1055T

Well according to this it's a toss up. ST performance can be better with 5800K while MT is of course better on 6C/6T X6 @ 2.8Ghz. It depends what your kid is doing on the PC. For games and especially if you will be using 6670, you might benefit from 5800K with hybrid CF. Be prepared for situations where HCF won't be working as it should so it has to be manually disabled for certain games. 5800K can be OCed and iGPU can be OC solidly too. So be sure to have good DDR3 ram sticks that can do 1866Mhz or there about for good scaling.

Another thing: why not A10 6700? 35W less and same if not better CPU/GPU performance with higher specced DDR3 support ( up to 2400 IIRC).

    Re: A10-5800K vs 1055T

Any reason for the change? Are you going to build another system with the old mobo and proc? Because in my opinion, you are going to spend about £110 for the CPU and another £50 on the mobo (approx). The 1055T is an overclockable chip which means you can get a good whack of speed more if you want it, but I don't think most people would need to.

The best upgrade for my money would be changing the 6670 for a 7850 which can be had for £150. Don't bother with the headache of hybrid CF, which at the end of the day will be slower and buggier than a single 7850, and sacrifice CPU performance along the way.

    Re: A10-5800K vs 1055T

Stick with the 1055T, it's a better cpu than 5800k. I had an Athlon II 450 unlocked to Phenom X4 and moved to A8 5600K and i'm not pleased with the cpu part. The athlon was more "smooth", maybe it was the L3 cache, i don't know... For example when i play some mmorpg games with 2 or more characters at the same time and i want to watch some youtube video, the video starts to stutter. That never happed with the athlon.

Another reason for sticking with the 1055T is that FM2 is kind of dead. Kaveri wont fit into current FM2 motherboards.

Just change the HD6670 with a better graphics card, that's all you need to do. And maybe add a cheap SSD for OS and games. It does wonders for the pc.

cheers all , was toying with the idea of an A10 and crosfsfire the 6670 , but honestly think just leave it as it is and maybe give the kids a new video card in the future.

    Re: A10-5800K vs 1055T

Yeah, Hybrid crossfire/Dual Graphics does work (although I believe the more recent version is limited to DX10+ only), but it's never going to match a discrete card from the next gen and one rung higher, let alone two. 1055T, decent overclock, and a 7770/7790/7850, depending on budget, is going to be a better bet. Hybrid Crossfire/Dual Graphics really is only worth it if you have all the components for it lying about anyway: it's not a function to specifically build for (IMNSHO, of course ).

aye they have a6670 GDDR5 in there - its actually pretty decent tbh for what they sue it for.

Ooooh, I wouldn't do that if I were you....

Tom's hardware found that such dual-graphics setup are extremely unreliable:

    Re: A10-5800K vs 1055T

Keep the 1055T. The 5800K is essentially 2 modules with two cores in each of them. I would save until Steamroller comes to the market.

    I would hope so, running a 1045T 3.6GHZ on a gigbyte m68mt-s2p with a cheap rosewill cooler.

I hope for your sake they don't find RoBlox. Awful game, sucks compute power and broadband throughput in order to play rubbish games full of griefers. Just don't get why they want to play!

That's why everything goes to SD here, any netbook, phone, pad or whatever will play it.
