Frostytech has reviews on both of them. In the Havik's temp charts, you can see the Noctua pulling ahead.

Following that site, the Noctua is pulling ahead in terms of noise and temp ration by a LOT (relatively speaking).

Only thing that was better that a NH-D14 turns out to be is the NH-C14 (even if only slightly).

You can ALWAYS make a small experiment by purchasing a Xigmatek Thor's Hammer for £15 without fans, check out the look and add fans to your liking :-)
    I love that cooler.Personally.

Looks good and it is BIIG and SHINYY. Cools my i5-2400 SB even under full load long term passively max 45 degrees (with 3x 120mm low RPM fans). If interested I could run it a night at lowest fan settings with posted RPMs to see how would fare.

That CM V8 looks like a engine. A motorbike engine to be precise

I'd be more interested to know your clock speed and idle/light use temps. I can get past 40C with just chrome open... And past 55 when gaming, so I might be considering an aftermarket cooler. Although Alan wake took it down to - 58C one time ^_^

Re: CPU Cooling - Which is better?

3 x FANs, avg. RPM 1050-1100 (atm), temps with browsing, etc 31-33 degrees.

I can later add temp after a 30min torture test, temps after a overnight torture and temps with reduced FAN speed (got 2x AK-FN057 and 1x FN-120RB) down to 600-650 RPM.

First night torture test, 6h on OCCTPT (v.4.4.0), 53°C average CPU temperature, CPU core temperatures from 52°C to 55°C, fans at 945RPM (2x fans at this speed) and 1145RPM (1x fan at this speed).

Light use, 32°C average CPU temperature, CPU core temperatures from 28°C to 34°C, fans at 945RPM (2x fans at this speed) and 1145RPM (1x fan at this speed).

Will do tonight a torture test with reduced fan speed, fans at 930RPM (2x fans at this speed) and 650RPM (1x fan at this speed). At this point it is quiet as it can be, using SpeedFan to lower the speed of the fans. Light use under this conditions is virtually the same as with the higher fan speeds.

You should also shortlist the Phanteks coolers, about the same performance as the Noctua but looks 10 times better.

Since you're overclocking i would have suggest a closed loop. I guess you rather air cooled, Noctua is a good cpu cooler.

I got personal experience with a excellent AiO water cooler > ThermalTake CLW0215 Water 2.0 Performer.
