Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I hadn't built a PC for quite some time (the last one was a P4 2.8Ghz) & the fan noise off that was horrific
The CPU for my current build didn't come with a stock cooler
Now I would only use the stock cooler to test everthing is working until I stick a waterblock on the CPU
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I used the stock cooler from my old x2 5600 on my fx-6300 due to buying a 212 evo that was millimetres too large for my case; it works, but fan ends up running at 100% playing games like ts2014. It's difficult finding a low profile hs that won't interfere with my RAM heat sink spreaders that are very close to the cpu socket
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I used the stock fan with my I5 2500K up until the first time I used Handbrake. First the fan got noisy, then the buzzer.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
Stock fans typically are loud and do not cool very efficiently. I went with a Zalman because their coolers are very nice. I have never tried liquid so I cannot really talk about that. I would highly recommend you get some kind of after-market cooler and get some decent thermal compound like MX-2 or MX-4 or something. It will really help you with your temperatures.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I do! Why? I am poor and can not afford a decent tower cooler or basic water cooling.

I don't think it is financially very taxing to hunt for a second hand cooler at eBay. As long you have a reasonably set budget (+10%) you just have to wait for the right auction.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
Stock cooler will be fine w/o overclocking.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
G620 with stock cooler and a modest box. The stock fan does its job well enough and until the system is upgraded it doesn't seem reasonable to me to upgrade the fan/cooler.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
Most people will swap to an aftermarket cooler, but in reality unless you are going to be doing some serious overclocking then the stock fan will be fine. You may want to change the stock amd fan because their cpus get quite hot i believe.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I did/do on my current PC, not on the new one that's on its way though!
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
Using the stock cooler on my E8600, inside my P280 case... Haven't noticed any temp issues and noise is pretty much at a minimum already! I think when I upgrade soon I'll go for a noctua or similar, but I think I'll be over clocking this time round.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I only use stock coolers. I really dont care about performance/temps/noise enough to want to spend money on a replacement cooler.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I think adding a cooling fan for computers depends on your location if the weather is extremely hot. If you live in a hot place like Las Vegas then adding a quality cooling fan would be the best opt.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I used to use a stock cooler on my 1st gen i5 however, when I got my 3570K I didn't even bother with the stock cooler. Mostly because I wanted to have a go at overclocking but I was surprised at how quiet the 3rd party cooler was (Coolermaster 212 evo).
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I used the stock cooler on my old i7-920 for nearly 4 years, but one of the plastic pins eventually gave out and it caused the CPU to overheat and shut the machine down, so I bought a refurbished H80. So on my current machine I went aftermarket right from the start. Even though I wouldn't expect the LGA 115x stock cooler to have the same problem as the LGA 1366 stock cooler, and I'm sure the LGA 115x stock cooler would do just fine at standard clocks, it's just that little fan can be fairly noticeable on prolonged heavy loads.
Re: Does Anyone Use The Stock Fan?
I've got an old quad core phenom CPU and the stock cooler on that recently packed in. Now I'm thinking custom coolers are the way forward :-)
