Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 HSF: suitable for FM2?

    Hi there

Can anyone confirm if the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler is suitable for socket FM2 APUs? I have one of these (a few years old), and this model of course came out before such a socket existed.

Half the sites that sell it state it is compatible with FM2, the other half make no mention of it.

Would very much appreciate it if anyone with first hand experience could confirm whether the thing is FM2 compatible or not.

    Cheers!

Are you talking about this; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Cooli.../dp/B002G392ZI ?

AMD's heatsink mounting mechanism on the consumer desktop side hasn't changed in a good long while, so AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2 and FM2+ at least can share heatsinks between each other.

In short, yes it should be compatible according to the Amazon listing.

    According to AC themselves, yes:

    http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/products/...-7-64-pro.html

I actually have one of those but if I were to swap to AMD I'd have to see if I can still find the AMD mounting parts. But yes, if you haven't misplaced (or are using) the AMD fittings.

    Thanks for the replies.

I had of course checked the manufacturer's site, but was none the wiser - mine isn't a 64 Pro (as in the above link), it's a PRO Rev.2.

Strangely, the specs for the PRO Rev.2 on their site don't even list AMD sockets at all, which is what lead to my confusion - mine is currently mounted on a AM3 right now.

Re: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 HSF: suitable for FM2?

I think it's just that AC's site is a tad confusing:

    http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/products/...-7-64-pro.html

actually calls it "Freezer 7 PRO Rev.2 / 64 PRO Intel / AMD CPU Cooler for Enthusiasts " so it's like they have two product names but it's only one product since it ships with the parts to turn the Intel to AMD and vice versa. Or both mine and two others I have installed for people did. But yet when you try to add that product to the basket it asked you for manufacturer...

But I think AETAaAS's reply has the most important info: while both Intel and AMD seem to change sockets all the time, their heatsink mounting points haven't changed as much.
